I have the flu. It really sucks. >.<
I went to get piercings with Lorelai over the weekend. Every 2-3 years, I get the urge to get another hole punched in me or a tattoo. ^^; This time I got another cartilage piercing in my ear.
Lorelai got her belly button pierced and 2nd holes put in her ear, and in middle of all this, her boyfriend passed out on us! Just keeled over and collapsed onto the floor. (He's fine, he just kinda went woozy for 2 seconds.) We're still harassing him about it. =DDDD
Lesson here: make sure you eat something before piercings / tattoos to keep your blood sugar up... even if it's not you getting the piercing! =D

Rain rain rain...

Ohmigod it's pouring here in San Fran. Ok, not east coast pouring but I'm practically swimming to work. I decided over the weekend I had to get rain boots because the worst thing ever is trying to get through a work day with soggy shoes. They never seem to dry out like the rest of your clothing eventually does.
I shopped around and while I found some rain boots, golashes actually, the thought of trekking 3 miles in a soft rubber boot with no support whatsoever made me go "enh". I dunno how people do it. I see people in SF trucking around with these boots from Target that look like they have as much support as a sandal. Maybe they have less finicky feet/ankles than me?
So off we went to my favoritest store evar: REI! =D I asked the super helpful guy there (ever notice how ridiculously happy REI workers are?) about waterproof shoes and he directed me to a row of very nice (and rather expensive) waterproof hiking boots. Ugh. I had just spent some decent money to get a new waterproof jacket so spending more on shoes was not so appealing.
Judy came over to take a look and after a couple of seconds, she points at a shoe on the display and asks me, "Isn't that the same shoe you bought for Half Dome?"
Me: "... Hey! That one does kind of look mine doesn't it...?!"
Sooo... turns out my hiking boots were a fantastic investment because they are also waterproof! Money saved is yay! (What would I do without you Judy?!)
So now my next purchase is apparently a waterproof cover for my backpack because everything in my pack got wet today. /sigh
( Anyways, I have kitty photos today! )

Kitties, dance and work...

I started a Flickr account. I didn't even do it for posting photos. I did it because I needed a Flickr account for testing purposes at my current job. But then I figured as long as I had it, I might as well use it. I'm going to try to post lots of kitty photos.
I just started a contract in San Francisco with a company called Blurb. They do publishing of books you design. I know there are a lot of companies that do this but I've never really looked into it. I can say that Blurb has some amazing quality books and is popular with the photography crowd. I can't wait to try printing one myself!
While the job is very neat, the commute sucks like woah. I take Caltrain for about 45 minutes and then walk 30 minute to the office. I tried running some ideas of speeding up that 30 minute walk past Marcus and he just gets this panicky look every time I mention maybe getting another motorcycle... or a bike... or even street skates. Just because I can't walk a straight line and run into walls all the time does not mean I can't navigate when I actually pay attention... =P
So now that 3 hours of my day are eaten up by my commute, I have very little time left for other things which really sucks. But I have work so I'm not gonna complain overmuch! (Just a little...)
I'm very grateful for finally caving and purchasing a Kindle so I can read on the train! I'll have to ramble about my thoughts on the Kindle later.
Anyways, I'll wrap up with some dance photos. ( More dance stuff! )

2009 Dance Videos
There are a lot of videos this year because I had 5 dances. The whole performance was me dancing, and then running backstage to change, and then running back onto the stage again. Rinse and repeat 5x. At one point, I had to have lorelali help me undo my hair so I could make my next dance in time.
The one above is my favorite dance of the year. We refer to it as the Cow Dance. It's always fun when people watch it for the first time, because there's this really confused chatter when the music starts moo-ing. This dance was originally for 3 people, we re-did it for 5 and then lost Aki when she moved back east, so we had to redo it again for 4 people. We spent hours outside of class teaching ourselves the dance and practicing lifts. The hardest lift was the one where I roll onto D's back. The other lifts are a lot more technical but that one was the most erratic as far as us nailing it. I had a tendancy to miss and either overshoot or undershoot so I was SO freaking happy we nailed it during the performance.
For anyone curious: The dance is based on the Wa minority tribe who live in southern China, near the border of what used to be Burma. We watched a lot of the actual dances done by the tribe and they remind me a little bit of plains American Indians as far as dance style. The piece we did is extremely stylized because it was for a competition so I wouldn't really call it indicative of the tribe but it's still a very cool dance.

Half Dome and back again!

We're back and we did awesome! I'm still a little sore in my calves but that's about the only damage. Ben, lorelai, and I made it to the top of Half Dome and twjudy made it to the base of subdome.
We plan to go back at some point so Judy can go all the way to the top.

( LOTS of photos )
